Life after vaccinations

Most western countries have been able to start vaccinating people against covid-19. For example, my in-laws have got their first shots as father-in-law is over 80, and mother-in-law is his caretaker. My own mother, a few years younger, is still waiting for her turn.
Now when the virus has started changing, the pandemic becomes more and more dangerous for even younger people. My husband and I are both 50+, and at this age, most of us have already acquired some health issues, which means that we are more vulnerable to several diseases. Anyway, this is not the time to give up, but brace ourselves and keep going, because the vaccines mean there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Restrictions, remote work, homeschooling and not meeting people start getting on everyone's nerves, even if there are also good sides about staying home. If you stay in your little corona bubble, you can meet a couple of others who also stay in their own bubbles, and the amount of contacts is still very low. For example, my mother goes grocery shopping with a mask on once a week, and in addition to that, she meets regularly only one elderly person, who also lives alone. Following the rules is the best way to beat the pandemic and hopefully get back to somewhat normal life later on.
For those who think that the testing looks very unpleasant, I have good news: one person very close to me has already been tested three times, and she says it's not that awful - not pleasant, but tolerable. So if you get flu symptoms or others that seem like covid, get an appointment and have the test - better safe than sorry, and then you know what you need to do.
I have worked from home for almost a year now, and the best part is that I have more free time - no commuting, no ironing blouses, less haircare and fixing looks in general. When you can't invite people over, it doesn't really matter what your home looks like, either. So I get to read a lot more than before 😄👍. I'm a talkative person when in company, but I also like peace and quiet very much, and for me, these arrangements could go on for a long time. But I live with my husband and daughter and also get to meet a couple of other close relatives on a regular basis, so I don't get as lonely as people who live alone.
Quaranteening and staying home in the dead of the winter is deliberating in several ways: in 2019, couch potatoes were lazy and unsocial people. In pandemic, they are model citizens, a good example for everyone. Happy hibernating!

Pandemian aikaan he ovat mallikansalaisia, hyvÀ esimerkki kaikille muille. HyviÀ talviunia!
